The Dalai Lama once said, “Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.” If you ponder that statement, you could come up with two meanings. Certainly, wanderlust and travel come to mind. There is nothing better than exploring new parts of the world and embracing different people and cultures. You can also go to some place that you have never been if you are learning something new. Fresh knowledge creates a journey of the mind and the soul.
I recently returned from a journey that allowed me to experience new geographical destinations along with a wealth of knowledge that will improve my life. I was on a cruise ship that berthed in Grand Cayman, Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire. These are admittedly exotic destinations and they lived up to their reputations. However, the real magic did not involve sand, rum or palm trees.
KNOWLEDGE CREATES A JOURNEY OF THE MIND AND THE SOUL
You see, I was on a real estate cruise with just over 200 people. We were part of a passenger list that likely totaled 4,000 people, but we were not there for the hot and cold running food and alcohol. We were there to learn. It is my second year on the ship and there are parts of the ship that I have never seen!
We were part of a group put together by Robert Helms and Russell Gray of the Real Estate Guys Radio Show. This is an annual event and it draws experts from around the world. Robert Kiyosaki, the number one best-selling personal finance author of all time, spent nine days teaching about real estate and what true wealth really looks like. Spoiler alert, wealth does not involve only money.
Peter Schiff, who called the 2008 Great Recession, gave his view on the world economy. G. Edward Griffin, the author of The Creature from Jeckyll Island gave us his research on the federal banking system. Adam Taggart and Chris Martenson, authors of Prosper, helped us learn how to be resilient and use sustainable resources in the future. We learned about gold, cryptocurrency, marketing, business, real estate, and even homesteading the ocean!
WEALTH DOES NOT INVOLVE ONLY MONEY
The education was fantastic and often went late into the night for those who had the staying power. Others, like myself, often grabbed a guitar and hung out on the back of the ship! The relationships created there are some of the best assets I will ever own. As Robert Kiyosaki said during one of his sessions, “True wealth involves the spirit, the body, the emotion and the mind.” If you take care of those facets of your life, it will not matter if you have money. You will already be wealthy. But if you lose your money, you will always be able to get it back.
TRUE WEALTH INVOLVES SPIRIT, BODY, EMOTION AND MIND
